Science & Tech Park at Johns Hopkins

 

Forest City-New East Baltimore Partnership and its partners are creating a state-of-the-art technology park that will anchor a revitalized community in East Baltimore.

The project comprises an 80-acre, $1 billion urban redevelopment effort that combines significant new business activity with new and renovated housing complemented by a wealth of community amenities. It is a one-of-a-kind effort that brings together leadership from residents, business, education, government, and philanthropic foundations.

The community will have 1,200 new or renovated homes for mixed-income buyers and renters, including townhomes, duplex homes, apartments and senior housing. A significant number of new jobs will be created for individuals with skills ranging from entry level to advanced degrees. The new housing development will be comprised of affordable, moderate and market-rate housing that includes sale and rental properties and graduate student housing. The new Henderson-Hopkins Public School will open in September 2013 on a 7-acre site. This will be the first new public school built in Baltimore in 20 years. Johns Hopkins University will operate it. In addition to the children of local residents, children of Baltimore residents who work in the neighborhood will have first priority for enrollment.

More than 80,000 sf of retail space will be located in the community. Tenants include restaurants, a Walgreens and other service retail serving neighborhood needs. Joining Harbor Bank and opening in 2013 will be Cuban Revolution Restaurant, Teavolve Wine Bar Café, Atwater’s Café, 7-Eleven and Walgreens.Graduate Student Housing Community Science and Technology Park at Johns HopkinsGraduate Hopkins.
